Steve Moses grew up and played his youth hockey in eastern Massachusetts. Hailing from Leominster, the right handed, 5’9” 172 pound forward was able to stay in his own backyard where he played 3 junior hockey seasons with the Boston Junior Bruins of the Eastern Junior Hockey League. Many of “Stevie’s” EJHL teammates went on to play both collegiate and professional hockey, and Moses was lucky enough to not have to stray far from home for his collegiate career, receiving a scholarship to play in Durham, New Hampshire at the University of New Hampshire.

At New Hampshire, Moses increased his offensive goal scoring and point production for the Wildcats each season. In his junior year, he scored double digits in both goals and assists and he also excelled in the classroom where he was named to the All-Academic Team. As a senior assistant captain, he led the team in scoring with 22 goals and 13 assists. That same season, after the conclusion of his college career, Steve joined the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey league where he played 8 games and netted 2 goals.

Weighing his options going into his next season, the undrafted free agent decided to leave the comforts of home and joined Jokerit in the top league in Finland. In his rookie Liiga debut, Steve Moses joined NHL defenseman and Norris Trophy winner, Erik Karlsson, who was in Finland during the NHL lockout. That season Moses racked up 22 goals and 16 assists to lead the team in goals and finish second in overall scoring. He won honors with Jokerit by tallying the most game winning goals (7) and Most Goals by a Rookie.

In his third season with Jokerit, Steve Moses was named to the First All-Star Team and also earned Forward of the Week and Most Goals for the league. USA Hockey named Stevie to their World Championship team in 2015 where he joined NHL stars Jack Eichel, Charlie Coyle and Seth Jones in winning a bronze medal at the tournament.

After the 2015 season, Moses returned for a short 16 game stay with the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL but then joined SKA St. Pertersburg of the KHL. The game approach in Milwaukee did not fit his goal scoring style, but with SKA he finished 10th on the team in scoring in just 21 games. In his 2016-17 season with SKA, Steve Moses was teamed up with NHL future hall of famers Ilya Kovalchuk and Pavel Datsyuk.

For the 2017 season, Moses has been lured back to the US and has signed a contract with the Rochester Americans; the Buffalo Sabres’ affiliate of the American Hockey League. Moses is considered a scoring wizard, and his one-timer from the right circle is deadly. At the elite NHL KHL summer Hockey Summit training camp, all in attendance were wowed with the scoring touch and deftness of Moses’ hands. Said Assistant Anaheim Duck Strength and Conditioning coach Justin Roethlingshoefer “Stevie just impresses everyone with his ability to find the back of the net.”
